One of the most common questions when planning an event is how many tables you’ll need — and how to style them. This guide helps you plan table numbers, spacing, and layouts, with practical tips to create a beautifully styled, event-ready setup.

 

👑 Top Table Size & Positioning Guide (Weddings & Formal Events)

The top table is the main focal point of your reception, typically seating the couple and their wedding party. As guests are seated on one side only, it’s important to allow a little more space per person to ensure comfort and a well-balanced look.

 

Space per person

  • Allow 60–75cm per guest

  • Opt for 75cm if you’re using wider chairs, charger plates, or statement table décor

Top Table Length = Number of People × Space per Person

Example:
6 people × 70cm = 4.2 metres
